  • spelling verified from original literature
  • the first author to unite P. macrocarpum and P. saccharatum appears to be C. Fruwirth in Ill. Gart.-Zeitung 12:197. 1887, who, in adopting Sturtevant's (1885) treatment of pea over that of Langethal (1876), stated "während P. macrocarpum [of Sturtevant] gleich der P. saccharatum [of Langethal] ist", thereby establishing priority of P. sativum var. macrocarpum Ser. over var. saccharatum Ser. under Shenzhen ICN 11.5.
